First it was fewer flights, then a ban on flights – now a threat of up to 5 years' jail for anyone who finds a way back to Australia from India within a 14-day period. The Prime Minister insists hotel quarantine is 99.99% effective – but apparently the system can't cope with any more arrivals from India for at least another two weeks. That's left Australians in India stranded – including more than 650 listed as vulnerable. As the debate here raged about improving and expanding the quarantine system – in India, the Covid crisis deepened - and the health system was overwhelmed.
