Breathing Exercises, Digestion, and How to Grow Taller with Yoga

breathing exercises This past month I listened to a Ted Talk by Max Strom called Breathe to Heal. This Ted Talk had quite an impact on me and in a moment, I will tell you why. Max Strom is just as gentle and as kind as he is in his Ted Talk. I know, because I had an opportunity to meet him back in 2010 when I had a radio show called Returning to the Body Mind. My name is Melissa. I teach breathing and yoga, mostly restorative styles of yoga like yin yoga, sleep yoga and restorative yoga on my main channel. I am super lucky that the foundations of my yoga study included a lot of teaching on breathing. I will put a card to it up here to Max Strom’s Ted talk so you can watch it too. The reason why I am bringing up this talk so often, is because it changed the way I thought about anxiety. What Max said, is that when we repress emotions, and he was specifically talking about grief, it shows up as anxiety. This was a major aha moment for me. That anxiety, is a way that we hold our emotional life at bay. Breath is a gentle way that we can open to feeling. In August I am going to do a short video on what exercises are good for anxiety. I will also be doing a second on how we can change our breathing to support our digestion whether we are experiencing IBS, GERD, crohs, colitis, constipation, bloating, heartburn, and celiac disease, there are ways we can gently change our breath to support our digestion. One of the most popular videos on this channel is my video: How to grow taller with yoga. Because that video is so popular, I thought I would treat you all to a second video on the best yoga poses to grow taller. In that video I will pay special attention to your questions such as how often should I do these poses, for how long should I do these poses and how long will it take to see results. I am going to offer some of my best tips and tricks that I have used in the past in my yoga classrooms. I myself have always been amazed by the results. I used to see anywhere from half an inch to one and a half inch gains from my students with the exercises that I practiced with them. You are going to love this video. Finally I will share with you a video on how to improve your digestion with yoga. Again, I hope to explore a range of digestive issues from IBS, GERD, crohs, colitis, constipation, bloating, heartburn, and celiac disease. This month in August we will be taking a couple of weeks off to go camping. We have scheduled two weeks off in the middle of August. We are going to going back to Strathcona and heading over French Beach, Mystic Beach, Botanical Beach way. I will link to some of our past vlogs so you can see what beautiful places these are to visit! This month on the Yoga with Melissa Lifestyle channel we will be focusing on breathing exercises, the best yoga poses to grow taller, breathwork for digestion and how to improve your digestion with yoga. Let’s break all of that down a little bit more.  On my main channel, Yoga with Melissa, I have been offering short 10 minute breathing exercises, belly breathing, or diaphragm breathing to help relieve anxiety. This month, I will answer the question, What breathing exercises are good for anxiety. I will also do a video talking about breathing for digestion. I hope to cover the full range of digestion from inflammatory digestion from crohns, colitis, IBS, to sluggish digestion like constipation. This will be in preparation for an in depth series that will be coming out in September 2019 in our membership community that focuses on digestion.  Because of the popularity of the video, How to Grow Taller with Yoga I will be releasing a video this month that will share the best yoga poses to grow taller. Finally we will close out the month with how to improve digestion with yoga. Again we will focus on a wide range of digestive issues from IBS, GERD, crohs, colitis, constipation, bloating, heartburn, and celiac disease.
