Introduction to Congenital Heart Disease, Part 3 (Single‚Äč Ventricle Physiology) with Faith Ross

This is doctor faith Ross with open anesthesia this is the third podcast in the introduction to congenital heart disease series in the previous podcasts I discussed anesthetic management of some of the more straightforward types of congenital heart disease. This podcast will be devoted to single ventricles. I'll discuss the characteristic example of single ventricle physiology and detail the aesthetic considerations for non cardiac surgery at various points along the talented pathway. As you can see in the slide there are many different heart lesions that result in and effectively single than trickle circulation any malformation that impairs flow through either side of the heart in utero can lead to hyperplasia of the structures on that side for example severe aortic or mitral valve stenosis or Tricia sultan hypoplastic left heart syndrome whereas tricuspid stenosis or treasure results and hypoplastic right heart syndrome.
